New Ford Eco-sport 2017 has finally gone on sale
in the Indian market. It’s the first mid-life face-lift of the compact SUV that has witnessed
comprehensive styling updates along with several segment leading features and
an all-new petrol engine. Redesigned with around 1600 new parts, the SUV will
continue to collide head against the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Creta,
Mahindra TUV300 and Nissan Terrano.
Tata’s latest entrant in the compact SUV segment, Nexon will also give a
tough fight to the new ford Eco-sport.

The 2017 Ford Eco-Sport face-lift has been rolled
out in the country at a starting price of Rs 7.31 Lake (ex-showroom). Official bookings for the compact SUV have
already begun across the nation. In fact, the limited 123 units assigned
for Amazon were sold out within first 10 hours.

The Indian compact SUV
segment has been witnessing surge in demand and car-makers have been rolling
out new models to benefit from the sharp rise in demand. First launched in
2013, Eco-Sport is among the top-selling models in this space, however launch
of new models such as Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon has turned heat on
Eco-Sport, hence the face-lift makes sense to retain its position. Therefore, the
American car-maker comes up with competitively pricing.

Ford Eco-Sport – Exterior
Featuring comprehensive
cosmetic upgrades, the new Ford Eco-Sport face-lift looks aesthetically
appealing and premium than its predecessor. Most of the updates on the exterior
styling are made to the front, thus giving it bolder and sportier appearance.
The SUV also gets bigger and wider projector headlamps with LED DRLs (daytime running
lights). The bold fog lamps further compliment the edgier and aggressive face
of the car. The bonnet has a wider central dome adding more to its muscular
appearance.

Save for the redesigned
alloy wheels and roof rails, the side profile of the SUV looks largely
identical to the old model. Ditching the 16-inch wheels, the high-spec
Titanium+ trim now gets the bigger 17-inch units that are claimed to offer
better control. Round the back, the car received subtle updates including the
new LED tail lamps and new tailgate mounted spare wheel cover. Though, the
dimensions of the 2017 Ford Eco-Sport remain changed.

Similar to the old model,
the 2017 Ford Eco-Sport comes in a choice of six colour options which include
Canyon Ridge, Diamond White, Moon-dust Silver, Race Red, Absolute Black and
Smoke Grey. In addition, Ford also introduced a new Lighting Blue paint scheme
on the compact SUV.

Besides subtle cosmetic
updates, the New comes with an additional pack comprising new comfort and
connectivity bits. The updated of ford Eco-sport model not only retained most
of the features from the old model, but shares some of its components with
other Ford vehicles such as Ford Kuga and Ford Edge crossovers as well. Inside
the cabin, the first thing you will notice is the new dashboard design along
with a newly laid out center console. The most prominent change is the new SYNC
3 infotainment system with Apple Car-Play and Android Auto connectivity. It
also supports navigation system, voice recognition and applications. This
in-car connectivity system allows drivers to adjust climate setting and connect
his/her Smart phone via voice commands.

The Eco-Sport’s new petrol
engine is capable to deliver power worth 121.3bhp
at 6,500rpm against a peak torque of
150Nm at 4,500rpm. This makes it 13bhp more powerful and 10Nm torque
than the old 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder
petrol unit. Interestingly, the new Eco-Sport 1.5L petrol is also the most powerful car in its segment. Besides,
the 2017 Ford Eco-Sport facelift continues to come with the 1.0-litre Eco-Boost petrol and the 1.5-litre TDCI diesel engine.
The turbocharged petrol engine can produced a maximum power output of 123bhp, while delivering a peak torque
of 107Nm.

The 2017 Eco-Sport’s new 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol engine is claimed to be 7% more fuel
efficient than the old Sigma, four-cylinder unit. The new power train has
crankshaft off-set from cylinder center line, cantered spark plugs and
